Sound conversational. In everyday conversation, we use inflection and emphasize certain words to strengthen our message. Speaking in a monotone buys your audience a ticket to “tune out.”
Speaking Tip #3
Have meaningful eye contact. By having meaning eye contact with your audience, you’re able to read the reactions on their faces. It will show you as being a confident speaker.
Talk with your hands. It’s natural! Using your hands when you speak in a few ways. It alleviates nervous keeps you visually engaging, and injects more inflection in your voice.
Speaking Tip #4
Pause. Silence gives a speaker time to think and allows the audience time to think about what they’ve just heard. Don’t be afraid of silence; it can be very powerful. |
